01Summary
mediaintel respects the intellectual property of third parties and ensures transparent rules in handling text and data mining (TDM). This page informs publishers, content owners and platform operators about
- our TDM reservation for our own content pursuant to §42h UrhG (Austrian Copyright Act) and Art. 4 DSM-RL (DSM Directive) respectively,
- our handling of third-party TDM reservations within the scope of our own aggregation and classification activity,
- direct contact channels for inclusion or removal requests.
In brief
Our own content is not released for AI training or commercial TDM. We respect third-party TDM reservations insofar as they are machine-readable or contractually declared.
02TDM reservation for our own content
All content created by mediaintel itself on www.mediaintel.co and on our public topic portals — in particular editorial texts, methodology descriptions, data visualisations, design systems and other copyright-protected works — is subject to the reservation of reproduction for the purpose of text and data mining within the meaning of
- §42h para. 1 last sentence UrhG (Austrian Copyright Act),
- §44b para. 3 UrhG (German Copyright Act), and
- Art. 4 para. 3 Directive (EU) 2019/790 (DSM Directive).
This usage reservation applies in particular to reproduction for the purpose of training, fine-tuning or validating generative and non-generative AI systems, as well as to other commercial text and data mining undertakings by third parties.
Machine-readable reservation
The reservation is additionally expressed technically in machine-readable form via the file /.well-known/tdmrep.json as well as via the HTTP header tdm-reservation: 1 pursuant to the TDMRep standard.
Licensing
Anyone wishing to use mediaintel's own content for TDM purposes can request a paid licence at office@mediaintel.co.
03Handling of third-party content
The mediaintel platform aggregates exclusively publicly accessible media content for classification and display in the form of headline + short excerpt + source link. We publish no full texts of third-party sources and do not use third-party content for AI training.
Respect for machine-readable reservations
We respect third-party TDM reservations provided they are
- declared in machine-readable form pursuant to TDMRep or a comparable established standard, or
- notified to us in writing.
Machine-readable declarations are evaluated automatically during every crawl; a detected reservation leads to the immediate cessation of any processing of the content concerned beyond mere display.
